Homework this Week

At your conferences, you recieved math packets for Unit 6, so there will be no math pages sent home in homework folders. We will resume spelling words next week to get a full week of practice. Therefore, this week their homework is reading and any math practice they choose to do. Folders were not sent home. They can play games, use the online math, or do a practice page. Today they learned lesson 6-4.

Reminder

Just a reminder that we are handing out valentines in class on Wednesday, February 14th! If your child does not have valentines to write their classmates' names on, there are extras donated in the office at school. Again, they do not need to make a box, as we will be decorating bags to put our valentines in on that day. However, if they already made one that they want to use, they are welcome to bring it.

-Upcoming Word Work - This week has been a crazy week! I was out on Monday and Tuesday at a Professional Learning Conference and out on Thursday for math training. We are all looking forward to getting back into the routine next week. Because of the subs and difference in schedule, some of the kids were worried about being able to study their word patterns this week and didn't get their homework the usual time. Therefore, I will be extending this word work into next week to ensure we get our new pattern (long e sound) mastered. We will test this pattern next Thursday. Thanks for being flexible and working with your kids to help them learn! (There will be no word work the week of Parent Teacher conferences. Short week and week for assessment.

Upcoming Dates with no school:
-Monday, February 5th
-Friday, February 15th
-Monday, February 19th

An overview of our learning goals for the week:
Math - We can use Change Diagrams and Part Part Total Diagrams to solve word problems.
Reading - We can use nonfiction text features to help us understand the text and vocabulary terms.
Theme - Be on the lookout for pictures of the flea market tomorrow! The kids have been working hard on creating their products and advertisements to sell!
Writing - We can identify and use nonfiction text features in our own writing. We can summarize facts in our own words when we research.
